Lesson on 都 all, both and 'even'

 1. 都是我的錯,都怪我 It’s all my fault. I’m the only one to blame.

→ Both the 都 used in the sentence mean “all”, but what exactly is the speaker’s fault is omitted. 2. 大人都吃不下,更別說小孩了 Even adults can’t finish eating this, let alone kids.
→ Here 都 is used to provide emphasis and express extremeness. It’s often used with 連(连)in the sentence pattern: 連…...都...... (连…...都......)even 3. 都下午了!他還沒起床?It’s afternoon already! He still hasn’t woken up (yet)? → 都 here is used to provide emphasis and show that the speaker thinks that this is surprising or unusual.
